Thursday night GASLIGHT

With the holidays coming up, its been tough getting enough of the Basement Generals together for a game. But, last Thursday, 3 braved the cold, and that was enough to cobble together a quick game of GASLIGHT. No scenario, just a brawl between a German/Prof. Nightshade faction and an Anglo-Franco-Russian force.
At first, it looked like bad for the Germans as the French took out the much feared Killenkanner on the first shot of the game. But then, things quickly went south. Professor Nightshade's mechanical minions clattered forth, ignoring any losses thrown their way. In a fire-fight with their human enemies, they decimated the British and Russian soldiers. When the Brits finally got their "Red Knights" into action, they were taken out quickly by Nightshades Killbots.
I managed a few snaps of the action.

Thursday Blood Bowl

Last night's Thursday game was part of the Blood Bowl League. The Maulers (my team) were handed their first defeat of the season by an 8-year-old (my son). Not just any defeat but a 3-0 loss involving most of the Maulers dead or injured thanks to a pitch invasion.
On the other field, the No-Name Nasties finally got their head wrapped around the game and beat the the One-Eyed-jacks 3-1. To be fair to the Jacks, they were down a few men and lost the use of their star player before the game started to a Dirty Trick.
I'm copying this on the Basement Generals blog also.

League Standings

Last Thor's Day the game between Uller's Uglies and the No-Name Nasties finally ended in a Norse victory. Also, the Nevereverlanders got handed their first defeat by the undefeated Maulers.

On with the body count!

The BGBBL has started. The Maulers mauled the One-Eyed Jacks 2-0, with 3 injuries and a kill. Unfortunately, the kill was by accident when an unlucky blitzer tripped leaving a tackle zone.
The Undead, Never-Ever Landers, crushed the Fury Rodents, but the sneaky rats made off with all the winnings. Do I see a Rat-Ogre in the future?
The match between Uller's Uglies and the No-Name Nasties is at halftime, with the norse winning 1-0.
The remaining teams will play as they can.
Off to a great start.

Recruits

RECRUITS, RECRUITS!

Recruits is March 27-29. A local gaming convention that is sponsored by the gaming group at Lee's Summit High School, in Lee's Summit, Missouri, and led by the fearless teacher and all around good egg Duane Fleck.

For this one, ZeBaron and I are going to put on a Song of Blades and Heores game of Samurai intrigue and revenge. Ronins, Samurai, Peasants. And maybe even some other goodness. More on this as it progresses.

I would encourage all BG's to put on a game.

A little something new for the BG Blog Fans

The Baron was kind enough to let me in to the BGs Blog to post a recent game using SuperSystem. I try to do various six-game story arcs using some familiar comic themes. Prizes for Best Hero, Villain and Player are always awarded based on objectives reached each game. Anyway, below is from the 2nd game in the latest story arc, "Guardians of Legend". I generally write pre-and post-battle reports so you've got the post report for the 2nd game. Enjoy, and thanks Baron.
---

"The mountain is secure, sir," said a voice over the radio. "No signs of other hostiles."

"Very good, sargeant," answered Rick Furious, Agent of B.A.D.G.E. "Set up your perimeter and await further orders."

"Yes, sir."

Rick Furious surveyed the damage made in the assault on the Omega Mountain base. Although the Guardians, with the help of B.A.D.G.E., were able to take the old Syndicate hide-out, the Mechanic and a number of villains were able to make their way through the mountain's transporter. Mysteria, the Guardian's resident mystic, and B.A.D.G.E. were working overtime to figure out where they went. Meanwhile, both the Hellion and Dr. Mechano were being loaded up for incarceration. Hopefully they could be held a little longer than last time. Furious was lost in thought when a surprised voice broke the silence.

"No, it can't be," said the voice that Furious traced to Mysteria.

"What is it?" asked Furious. "Where did they go?"

"To a place I thought long since vanished," said Mysteria. "A place of legend. A place called..."

"Asgard? Asgard?!?" a now nearly panicked Mr. X asked after surveying his unfamiliar surroundings. "Quit making s&*t up and tell us where we are."

"Calm yourself, my friend," the confident Mechanic replied. "We are at the home of the Norse Gods, a place that inspired the Vikings to push across the Atlantic and pillage half of Europe...and will provide us with the power to destroy the Guardians and rule the world."

"So what happened here," asked Mastermind, unable to look into the Mechanic's mind for the answer.

"Ragnarrok, of course," said the Mechanic, matter-of-factly. "Oh, yes, the myths were true. Ragnarrok did occur, but only here. Nothing left but rubble...and a few things that we will find useful. But enough. My plan is working to perfection and now that we're here we can bring others to help find what we've come here for."

With that, the Mechanic pulled out a small control pad and soon additional figures began to appear...

Over the top? Of course but it made Stan Lee more money then you and I will probably ever see.
